Done is Good

  • Apr. 28th, 2008 at 2:11 PM

Entering into the home stretch here... oh my. how did the last week of classes rush up so fast?! I'm so shocked and confused! Sigh... all I have to do is survive my last paper and tests and I'll be OK. I think. Anyway, to make sure I end this year with a bang, here is my Done is Good post, a Bryn Mawr classic where we share the pain and make a checklist of those last things seperating us from the summer.

DONE IS SO GOOD

* 10 page classical Art paper
* Classical art final
* Intro to Religion final
* US social structure final
* The last French final I ever have to take

* Pack (somehow fitting my whole life into one car)
* Return to the Fax.

Once those are done it will be all good. All I have to do is get off livejournal and get those done... hehe, better get going then.

Into the peace of the Done."

I feel like cobwebs should have collected over my LJ (yes I know it's virtual, I meant Virtual cobwebs).

college life

  • Aug. 30th, 2007 at 7:20 AM

well, here I am at college.... boy is it exhausting. the schedule for the week is crazy! We barely have any time to ourselves! On the bright side, I think I found a Chinese resteraunt that delivers on campus.
It's been cool, Anna and I are getting along and the room is wonderful, the campus is gorgeous and if the temperature would drop it would be almost perfect.
I'm just still a little homesick but, oher then that I feel great. The food is nice, the people are so welcoming (one of my customs people kept calling us her baby froshies) and the campus really is beautiful. We've been learning about al of the Bryn Mawr traditions including, but not limited to, skinny dipping in one of the fountains on campus.
Other then the fact that we've been running around like crazy and that I've got a French placment exam in an hour I am having a nice time. I miss all of you guys and sometimes I really just want to be back home but then something fantastic will hapen and everything just sems perfect.

I guess I'm just having adjustment isues. I'll try to put pictures of the room on facebook now that all of my stuff is here but, it could be awhile.

Well, I will see you guys around (Thanksiving) and I hope you are all having a great time yourself.

From me to you and you to me

"Now this is the story all about how,
My life got flipped, turned upside down,
And I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there,
I’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air.

In West Philadelphia, born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days.
Chillin’ out, maxin’, relaxin all cool,
And all shootin’ some b-ball outside of the school.

When a couple of guys who were up to no good,
Started makin’ trouble in my neighborhood.
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared,
And said You’re movin’ with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air.

I begged and pleaded with her the other day
But she packed my suitcase and sent me on my way
She gave me a kiss and she gave me my ticket
I put my walkman on and said I might as well kick it

First class, yo this is bad,
Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass
Is this what the people of Bel-Air livin' like,
Hmm this might be alright!

But wait I hear the prissy, bushwa and all that
Is this the kind of place that they just send this cool cat?
I don't think so. I'll see when I get there.
I hope they're prepared for the Prince of Bel-Air!

The plane landed and when I came out
There was a dude,looked like a cop,
standin there with my name out
I ain't tryin to get arrested yet I just got here
I sprang with the quickness and like lightening disappeared

Well, I whistled for a cab, and when it came near,
The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror.
If anything I could say that this cat was rare,
But I thought Nah forget it, "Yo home to Bel Air."

I pulled up to the house about seven or eight,
and I yelled to the cabby "Yo homes, smell ya later."
Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there,
To fill my throne as the Prince of Bel Air."

Well, today I went up to Maryland to visit my Grandmother before going off to college. I ended up playing imaginary bassball with my cousin's two little boys, Joshua and Matthew who are 3 and 2 respectivly. It basicaly involved me pretending to throw a ball which Joshua swung at with his fist and then he ran screaming around the room. Somehow that lasted an hour before their Mom came to take them home. Eventually it was fun to see how long it would take for the two boys to get bored which was far longer then it took me. >P
It was nice to see everyone and remember how white bread, all American my Grandparents are.

Now I'm watching the last Netflix that I'll probably get before Wednesday, a delightful James Bond called Diamonds Are Forever. Oh, sean Connery, how wonderful you are.

sigh.

the usual

  • Aug. 20th, 2007 at 1:03 PM

So today i had off from work and I decided to start packing... well, packing is much harder then I thought so I actually watched Lawrence of arabia and am now mooching around on the internet.
The movie was much better then I thought it would be and it was worth sitting through (It's like, 3 and a half hours long). Nothing is really going on, I keep waiting for it to rain like weather.com said it would but it's just being persistantly cloudy which is boring and depressing and not fun rain.
Obviously I am very bored right now.

OK, I better actually get back to packing so I am not doing it all last minute like Kim did. That sucked.
Oh, and Paige, to get your songs on your computer, try this:
When you plug your iPod into the computer an icon of it pops up on your desktop.
Open iTunes and drag the icon of your iPod into iTunes.
It shoud transfer all the songs on your iPod into iTunes.
That was how I got mine to work anyway.

all in all, I've got to go, see you guys later!

Sigh

  • Aug. 16th, 2007 at 5:45 PM

It's so strange how summer always seems to just fly by.
It didn't even go by all that fast it just ended very abrubtly.
Paige, after you left I almost cried, it was like that suddenly signified that fact that soon, we will all be spread all over the country and most of us will lose contact over the years. It's a sad thought at best. Anyway, I better go and actually start, at least, find the list I made of things to pack so I can start to consider packing.... and maybe call people...
and cry

not really

But I am crying on the inside :(

Now i am just coming down off my sugar high. It was reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaally slow at work today so we all ate a lot of ice cream out of sheer boredom. For me, that is ot good at all. that is why I am actually doing something other than vegging out and watching Lawrence of Arabia.
I should probably watch it though so i can get the next DVD on my Netflix list (Highlander).
Later people.

Quote me on this:
"That's what college is for - getting as many bad decisions as possible out of the way before you're forced into the real world. I keep a checklist of 'em on the wall in my room."

J. Jacques,

college

  • Aug. 1st, 2007 at 8:23 AM

After seeing Claire's post on her dorm I had the urge to write about college. It's ust so weird, at times I feel soooooo excited about college, like it is oing to be the best experiance ever and at other times I am so scared about leaving my family. I'll just be doing something nice like taking my dogs out in the morning and it hits me that i won't have that in college. Not my dogs or my yard or anything!
I have been consolidating all my stuff to take with me. I bought one of those big CD holders to put all of my DVDs in for college (it acually worked really well, 150 DVDs in a space less then 1 foot square.) Right now it's my books that are giving me woe. I decided to only take one shelf of books and I swear I ended up with 4 boxes of books that I have to leave here. Plus, the more I pack the emptier my room seems and the sadder I get. sigh.
Anyway later today I find out what hall i am in and who my roomate is (it should be Anna but it would be nice to have that written somewhere you know) and then we can start arranging who brings what etc.

Man, this whol college thing is pushing me round the bend plus my Mom has been acting weired lately, like when I go to one of ya'lls houses she gives me this puppy dog look and trys to convince me not to go. It would be sad if it wasn't so annoying. You would think she had learned with Kim that gone at college dosn't mean gone forever. It's just very unnusual.

Anyway... I will see you guys later k.
adios amigos

Computer v. ipod 2: the saga continues

  • Jul. 30th, 2007 at 11:59 AM

OK. So i've been meaning to do this for a while and since I am just sitting here anyway I might as well make this announcment...
In terms of college stuff I do want to stay in contact with ya'll. I really do; however, as you may or may not have noticed, i am nt very good at checking our Facebook. To be honest I just find it way to complicated and it does not seem conducive to sharing news. Just photos. So, livejournal will be (henceforth) my primary method of communication. I promise to update regularly if you guys promise to do the same. :)

Now that I am finally starting to whip this machine into shape (meaning my random button pushing is finally paying off) I am actually going to try to stay in contact so I will continue posting and checking posts. TTFN
later fools!

supernatural combination

  • Oct. 4th, 2006 at 5:44 PM

Hey Paige, you know how I found that lock in the back of the car on the supernatural website? I finally figured out the combination (ok I cheated but get this) in order to find the 3 digit combination You had to recognize that in the episode "Phantom Traveler"we are given Dean's cell phone number, which happens to be (866)907-3235. If you call that number you're have given 3 more numbers 11 2 83. this unlocks the weapons chest.

that is way too into the show.

Apparently this is also the same date their Mom died, but I am not into the show enough to go check that out.

Hey baby

  • Aug. 4th, 2006 at 9:05 AM

Hey guys, what's happenin. I am soooooo out of it right now. But that's what you get from dancing until 8:30 in the evening and then watching mind candy ( so you think you can dance) until 10. Then having your Dad wake you up at like 8 to make you do something that you can't do anyway because you have work and now I can't fall back asleep because there is too much sun. >[
Sorry, as I said...out of it. I'm having a fun summer though how about you guys?
I'll see you around.

Man, a few hours from now when I'm coherant I'm gonna read this and remind myself why I can never go near computers when I just wake up.

hello again

  • Jul. 1st, 2006 at 5:01 PM

hello, I'm back from my work camp thing. It was hot, humid, exhausting and I'm glad I'm home. I'm still happy that I went on it but I'm also very happy about sleeping in tomorrow. Anyway, it's almost my B-Day and I'm really excited! Kim offered to switch days of with me so I'll be free tomorrow. I might go to church tomorrow at around 11 but I'd like to see you guys at some point tomorrow. I'll see you all soon. Good bye ya'll.

Dance dance

  • Jun. 24th, 2006 at 12:44 PM

Oh gosh, it's that time of year again. Every June after school we roll out the flashy costumes, the cakes of makeup and the restrictive tights/ undergarments that all add up to my dance recital. I've only two more shows to do and I'm already tired of doing this. I look horrible and feel wiped out. At least this year I don't have to worry about any impromptu support from the aydience (you know who you are). Anyway, when this will finally be over I have to leave for Christian work camp in Goldsboro NC so I won't see ya'll until the 2nd of July (coincidentally my B-Day).
So until then, auf weidershan baby.

ps. I appologize if I spelled auf wei...etc. correctly

raindrops keep falling...

  • Jun. 23rd, 2006 at 9:17 AM

Wow, did you guys see that storm last night? Ok, you'd have to have been sleeping in a hole not to hear it but I know what Claire's basement is like... anyway, that was amazing. In the yard across the street from ours a tree was knocked over by the wind and almost landed on our neighbors house! It was crazy with a capital K.
Also last nigh I watched this spastic Russian movie called Night Watch (no Paige it is not what you think) but it was actually very good (just, as I said before, a little spastic). It was about that whole, good v. evil thing but what was really funny was this one scene where this boy is watching TV and whittling a stake (long story) and he's watching Buffy. (fifth season first episode) and it was so randomly there! Then again the whole movie was incredably random but surprisingly well done. The director (insert long Russian name here) is supposed to be one of the best in Russia. It was very cool.
Anyway, I just thought I'd check in, I'm stuck at Mom's work because she and I need to go to my Dance recital this afternoon and it was easier for me to be here. Anyway, I will see ya'll later. Peace. Out.

"The film was a huge box-office hit in Russia, which made it widely despised by an underground nonconformist intellectual movement "Padonki", who criticized it for wide use of Holywood-style filming and lack of ideas behind the FX. They labeled the movie "Nochnoj Pozor" (Night Shame)(the Russian name for the movie is Nochnoj Dozor)." -IMDB.com
